Profiles

Student profiles are a significant part of your yearbook. The unique personalities of each student are remembered forever through responses to questions and photos.

How many?

Profile pages are likely to form the bulk of the yearbook. An important aspect to consider is how many profiles will be placed on each page.

Historically when Year 12 yearbooks were created on photocopiers, students were each provided one page each to 'scrapbook' their memories. A handful of schools including as Sydney Girls High School and North Sydney Girls High School still retain this profile format, but use better technology to publish pages.

With the advent of computers, today it is arguably more appropriate and attractive to feature more than one student profile per page. Anywhere between 2 to 8 is a good number. The more profiles per page - the less total book pages are required (and the cheaper the book). At the same time however, the more profiles per page - the less questions answerable by each student.

Which photos to use?

Use the Year 12 student mugshot. Your school photographer provided your school office with a CD-ROM with each shot. Ask the office staff for a copy of the CD, and save your Yearbook Committee lots of time!

An interesting way to accompany the Year 12 mugshot is with an old baby photo or the Year 7 mugshot. When side by-side, past to present photos show how students have changed, or haven't changed!

How to collect profiles?

Do NOT hand out pieces of paper forms. You will have trouble reading their writing, and waste hours of time with data-entry.

Ask your Rockstar Yearbook Consultant to set up a free website for your grade. All your profile questions can be answered online! You will save heaps of time. Students can even upload their own digital photos for your Yearbook Committees review.
