Reports

Reports are used to objectively review school events and major group activities.

While they are highly authoriative and proper in nature, reports tend to exclude those not directly involved or interested in the subject matter. It is thus most effective to use reports sparingly, and only when they are absolutely needed. For example, the Principal's Message is appropriately written in report format, but content about the school musical would be better written as an article.

Report writers should be mindful of presenting complete and balanced commentary. Focus on revealing unique first hand perspectives to readers. Writers should have direct involvement in the subject matter, and a good understanding of how the subject fits within the greater school community.

Complementary pictorials, montages, and illustrations can effectively aid in communicating key concepts. Include as many high quality photographs as possible to break up long reports.
