Pacific Hills Christian School
The Banner is the yearbook of Pacific Hills Christian School, a large school situated in Sydney's North West. Rockstar has had the privilege of being involved in The Banner since 2006.
Mastering challenges.
With so many students, classes, school groups and stakeholders to consider, how does one keep on top of it all? This is a challenge Editor and Marketing Manager Jodi Herbert has managed to conquer, with hard work, dedication and realistic expectations. Each year Jodi succesfully captures Pacific Hills' vibrant community with a mix of bright colourful pictures and a balanced mix of all groups and the school as a whole.
The solution = Creative Services
Since 2006, Pacific Hills has selected Rockstar's Creative Services team to design and layout The Banner. Each year the Rockstar team meet with Jodi and brainstorm a variety of concepts, with an aim to to present Pacific Hills' year in a fresh and unique manner. Implementing a consistent and flexible theme, all page spreads are custom designed reflecting the diversity and uniqueness of the school community.
Success is not achieved by what is done, but how it is done. Working closely with her Rockstar Yearbook Consultant, Jodi maintains a master page pagination plan, communicating requirements and expectations to content contributors within school. It is always a challenge to remind staff members to submit content on time, but through clear and constant communication, Jodi stays on top. Content is electronically submitted to Rockstar with ease, by uploading organised folders to Rockstar's server.
A key to Jodi's success is the fantastic manner in which she works. Ever considerate of others involved in the process, Jodi ensures that all content is properly checked and edited before sending to Rockstar. The many photos are also prioritised to ensure the best of Pacific Hills shines through.
Getting 'ooohhs and ahh!'s
The Banner 2008 continued the success of Rockstar's previous editions - warmly received by students, their parents and the entire school community. Featuring embossed title text on the front cover, inside pages were styled in a fluid and friendly layout, organised by colour-coded sections.

The Banner 2007 featured a die-cut hole in the cover, showcasing Pacific Hills' fish logo. Inside content was set against custom illustrations and friendly warm typography, maximising interest and impact where no two spreads looked exactly the same.

Jodi's Thoughts
In 2008, Jodi noted:
I think that we have close to perfected the process over the past 3 yearbooks. I would highly recommend Rockstar to any school. Our yearbook publications have been of a high quality, delivered on time, at a great price with fantastic service. Our students, teachers and parents love the fresh, contemporary and friendly feel of our yearbooks.
In 2007, Jodi noted:
Usually in a project the best you can hope to achieve is two variables out of the big three - Quality, Timing, Cost. You then have to work out which two are more important to you and allow the remaining one to slip. Rockstar have succeed in ticking all three of these boxes, which is extremely rare. I would have no hesitation in recommending Rockstar to any school.
For Rockstar, The Banner is one of the best and most enjoyable projects we been involved in to date. The Banner's success is only made possible by the hard work, amazing organisation and leadership skills by Yearbook Editor Jodi. Congratulations Jodi!
